That was a really stupid article! And I'm pretty surprised so many here are taking it at face value. Seriously, has nobody heard around about postmodernism
around these parts? This is a typical example of a modern artist who is re-mixing, quoting, mashing up and generally putting culture in a blender - plagiarism
it is most definitely not.

And looking at the images, which are already iconic and well-known to begin with, I can only wonder what this guy was smoking: "By...

When I saw the Obama posters last year I was bowled over by the design and had no doubt the artist had created something that would live on as an (sorry for
over-used word, but it applies here) "icon," something like that Che photo that ended up launching a billion t-shirts.

I didn't know anything about Fairey at the time but had seen the Obey imprint around. Later I found out about the controversy surrounding his work and his
appropriation of others' images. This...

I think the key point is " When Lichtenstein painted Look Mickey, a 1961 oil on canvas portrait of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, everyone was cognizant of
the artist's source material - they were in on the joke. By contrast, Fairey simply filches artworks and hopes that no one notices - the joke is on
