Italian 39x55, Art byMartinarti, on linen.
And while not from 1926 but a later re-release, this three sheet, strangely paperbacked, is certainly a lot of fun.

Some really gorgous pieces there, Phil.
SOUTH OF PAGO PAGO is just fabulous, as is LA FURIA UMANA (WHITE HEAT). Both would be knock-outs framed on display! Shelly |

Most of the Australian paper on the A&Cs is probably the best in the world. A very, very nice collection, Ves.

Thanks you guys...big fan of A&C so I am always over the moon when I manage to get my mitts on something I don't have.
They are wonderful posters and I do agree that the majority of the paper is really nice...the best so far (and my fave) being the Hold that Ghost daybill...YAY |

I am still trying to verify if A&C MEET FRANKENSTEIN was released in Australia as that, or under the UK title of A&C MEET THE GHOSTS.
As it was in 1948, and the Australian censors were banning horror films left and right - including retrospectively all the Universal horrors, the film itself may have been banned. I've never seen an Australian poster on the film under either title, although this doesn't mean they do not exist, and a friend who often buries himself looking through old newspapers at the NSW State Library, has yet to find it in the entertainment pages from the period. Bit of a mystery - anyone throw any light on this for Australian collectors? HOLD THAT GHOST is also my favourite daybill to date on the ones that have surfaced over the years. Philk |

Thanks Ves and Phil, for posting those. Definitely some nice paper there!
Yaknow, the poster collecting community certainly is lucky that it has members in most, er, corners of the globe. Otherwise we may only ever see posters produced in or for the countries we live in. Nice to know the internet can be used for something other than spam, shopping and porn. |

I think that's very true, Matt. NSF seems to have a varied wide range of all sorts of country paper, in part because there are many of us who collect posters from all over the world and don't restrict ourselves to our home country paper, which in some cases can be some fugly posters, even for great films. Ves, fab pieces. Are you planning on framing them? Your walls will love you forever, if you do.

Thanks Shelly.
A&C are destined for the walls next swap round. As for Fight Club, I'm seriously thinking about where they can go...I have a wall in mind, but I have to see if my financial controller will allow to splurge EVEN MORE on framing next year. Too many posters and not enough walls I tells ya! |

Did they do daybills for all of the Fight Club rules or just the first and last?
If I 'called now' would I end up on a watch list somewhere?
I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and
was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any
such slander at any time in the future.

If I 'called now' would I end up on a watch list somewhere? As for the posters, as best I can find out, it's just the two rules. Technically I don't consider them daybills...they just happen to kinda sorta be the same size as the old long daybills 15"x40" |

Officially, they are "pole posters" - designed specifically for taping on telegraph poles, so are form of wilding. If you have ever seen these guys
in the dead of night (and even broad daylight) it's hilarious. They use rolls of regular sellotape and just go from poll to pole... and are very fast,
usually never even getting off their bicycle. They are mostly used for music gigs, but are also occasionally used for films and plays, as well as political
events.
They are the same size as long daybills - 15x40 inches - because they are made the same way - that is printed 2 up on a 30x40 inch sheet. |
