For some reason most of the foreign (= non-Danish) posters I have been buying this year have been in larger formats. Danish posters usually only come in one
size with very minor variations along the years, all a bit smaller than an American one-sheet. I don't know, maybe it's an effect of growing up with
these that draws me to the larger paper? I definitely agree the large posters possess a wow factor that can be much harder to obtain from regular sized
posters. But yeah, where do one put them all? Right now I am having a large French of LES YEUX SANS VISAGE (EYES WITHOUT A FACE) linen backed for me in London.
This will be the first large poster on my walls since I had a large French reprint of Pink Floyd: The Wall up in my (admittedly dopey) teens. Can't wait to
get it back and see how it will look. I even found a local guy who can frame it for a reasonable price. I just hope he can do an Italian quattro-foglio, too,
because that's the next project.

Cool to have another double-named Scandinavian around who collects good posters! Those Italian biggies are great and it sounds like Groucho gave you a good
deal too. My most sought-after Italian 4-sheet would be the original BLACK SUNDAY with Barbara Steele's face, but it's is kind of expensive and does
not turn up very often - never mind that I would have no place to hang it...

Hi, Folks!
We've strayed outside our comfort zone of pre-1990 British material ... because we couldn't resist these ... ... they're all original US inserts ... 36" x 14" approx ...

Wow that's a nice haul of inserts. Betting several are pretty rare too judging by their apparent age.

TOP OF NEW YORK is the most interesting, and for more than one reason.
Very nice inserts for now forgotten films and stars (for the most part). Nice early-ish DeMill there, too. |

I love The Burning Sands and Kick In, you can envision them on display in those great art deco movietheaters. Such contrast with today's cheap glossies in
their unimaginative lightboxes together with crappy standies in mall-like multiplexes. When Satan Sleeps, btw, what a great title.

Also, thinking about Rich's Rolling Stone article, if you replace Thomas Meighan with John McCain...

WOW! Those are fantastic, Terry! They sure will make some lucky collector happy (unless they'll be staying in your personal collection, that is).
Congratulations! |

Thanks to everyone for the comments. We're just amazed that they're in such good condition taking their age into account. When mini-hoards like this
turn up, it really makes you stop and wonder what's still out there waiting to be found! Credit crunch or no credit crunch, these beauties have reminded us
why we do what we do!

Just came back from another trip to Japan last night and brought with me dozens new posters for my collection.
Here's a first sample of a few monster movie posters that don't show up too often: The 1955 poster for THE RETURN OF GODZILLA. Pretty hard to find as it is even rarer than the first GODZILLA poster.

Will post more titles once I have photographed them. Armin |

Those are really great, Armin! Bet they did cost you about the same as the trip?
"rumble" wrote: I believe Groucho had one up for auction earlier this year that went at a reasonable price (at least in my view), but yeah, it's definitely not one that pops up very often. Personally, I would love to get my hands on the duo-foglio. I know Wolfgang from kinoart.net had a linen backed one for sale, but I have no idea how much it was sold for and I have never seen one for sale myself. Some of the good, old Italian horror posters surface from time to time on Italian eBay, but usually the prices are too steep for my wallet - like 400 Euro for the L'AMANTE DEL VAMPIRO I just got for $95 and 600 Euro for a OPERAZIONE PAURA (never mind that I probably would buy them anyway if I had that kind of cash to spend on posters). Btw. I just got my posters from Groucho. Fast delivery as always. The "fold separations along fold lines and cross sections" described in the auction details turned out to be a large tear in one of the fold lines, as you can see in the photo. I am not too worried, though. The price was still good and I was going to have it restored anyway because of some yellowing around the edges. It also turns out that Groucho uses stock photos for his auctions. There was another LA FRUSTA E IL CORPO 4-sheet up the day after I bought mine with the exact same description and the exact same photo. If it weren't for the occasional good deal he has I would be somewhat pissed! Here is a photo of the actual poster I got. A large tear as a mentioned and some yellowing, but the colors are really good. Hopefully a tear - even of that size - should not pose as a major problem?
If somebody else wants a duo-foglio of L'AMANTE DEL VAMPIRO Groucho still have one for sale. |

Nice.
That tear along the fold doesn't seem badly placed, looks like it's mainly in a flat black area. What would be more distracting would be if there was yellowing/browning on fold lines along her face. Perhaps that's just symptomatic of all French paper rather than Italian. Cheers, Rich |

Really looking forward to seeing this movie. The subject matter is really important to me:
German Aviator poster:
This one is nice, but not quite as nice in person as I'd hoped. Probably would look good in a light box:
