I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and
was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any
such slander at any time in the future.

I'd go to filmposters.com and pay a premium just to share a small email chat with John Hazelton because he's so fucking cool. That reminds me...I
should do that soon.

Hey, I was told about a Rumble on the NS4! No rumbling without me! But, I'm late for a live-caught dungeness crab dinner and bear watching, so I'll
have to jump in -- and add my congratulations to Dan -- later. Jeannie

This is really nostalgic for me. I had almost the same conversation with Jose Carpio around 15 years ago. He said that so many people complained about his sky
high prices, because he was so high profile, and he said he could name TEN major dealers who had higher prices than him, and he proceeded to do just that!
I don't hold high prices alone against anyone, if there is no element of deception involved. For example, I once sold a Gone With the Wind 6-sheet to a guy for $25,000, and he re-sold it for $110,000, but he told his buyer it was the very poster that was displayed at the premiere of the movie! If you tell someone your price and they pay it, it is buyer beware. Of course, dealers who do this repeatedly will likely have few repeat customers, but some operate on the principle there are an endless number of new buyers out there, and that may well be true. Something that happens in my auctions repeatedly is that the high bidders buy a common poster for far too much that I have auctioned over and over in a certain price range (say $25-$35), and this one particular time they pay, say $70. I make the past sales information easily obtainable on my auction site, so if they pay double, it is because they could not be troubled to do one minute of research. Is not something very similar happening when people pay far too much for some of Dave's posters? As I said before, I consider Dave one of the good guys. As far as I can tell he almost never sells repros as real (why he recently listed an extremely questionable Dark Knight poster is beyond me, but I assume he has his reasons, and I also don't understand some of his "used car seller" techniques, but he seems successful using them, so I guess they work) and he also seems to do his best to honestly describe condition and extent of restoration, and to provide large unenhanced images. That puts him a giant step ahead of many others. I think if everyone who is a basically good seller could focus on the true bad players in this hobby, and to stop bickering among themselves, then it would be far harder for those bad players to succeed at all. I got sidetracked by the shift of focus of this thread, and forgot to congratulate you! If you want free publicity for the book I will gladly promote it in my e-mail club now or when it is ready, giving your contact information. If you don't want any free publicity that's fine, and put me down for a copy! Bruce |

this has been rehashed over and over again on these boards........but since you are still a relative newbie and probably missed it....I'll kindly explain it again. there is no need to defend anything. Its not greedy, its not shady. period. If someone want to buy posters for less someplace else....no one is stopping them. Am I the only one selling posters on the internet? and as for darios clients who were burned.......they didn't get them from me!!! I am not "helping to promote the problem" as you said. Someone would have to be a complete and total idiot to confuse a clearly marked bootleg (that I sold correctly described as a bootleg) for an original. and.....over 130 collectors new and old....(mostly from mpf) who got a free one from me have no problem with it either. So give it a rest already. David A. Lieberman CineMasterpieces.com And this coming from THE BIGGEST DOUCHE BAG in the hobby! HAHAHAHAHA!!! |
