First of all, I still am a child, as we all know.

I thought we would all be routinely using holograms by now. (This is all based on the Star Wars Princess Leia Obi-Wan Kenobi message.)
I sincerely thought we would be reading newspapers and books in bed through hologram. For instance, we would have a little gizmo by the bedside that could project the pages into any space in front of your face, and be fully adjustable by size, view, color, etc. I also thought for sure that our TVs would be 3-D hologram projections into an open circular space, so that we would be fully immersed. I was way too young to recognize the significant porn aspects in this technology. And, of course, I am quite sure that industry will lead the charge on this technology.

I also thought we would have fully automated highways and roads, so that we would just plop into some vehicle, say the address, and be taken there with an automated super-computer that would direct all traffic, to not only avoid accidents, but also get you there as quick as possible.

As an adult, I remain shocked that traffic lights are still around. I am equally shocked that we still use paper and coin currency. I am also surprised that all kids are not automatically implanted with tracer chips in their skulls for instant tracking - I would think that would have a reasonably good deterrent for child abductions (although some would say that it could have an unintended negative consquence).

Now, back to boring present-day reality.
