As some of you know, I draw for The Mirror, an alternative weekly in Montreal. This week the topic I chose for my editorial cartoon was Iran. Now I didn't
set out to do it, but the toon this time ended up looking more like a poster that's almost a cross between Saul Bass and the student protest posters from
Paris in May '68:
Just shows you when you consume so many images and are surrounded by them they can sometimes have an influence on what you produce, even unconsciously. I know in this case my influences didn't hit me till I added that flat red background. But it worked so well, making the image practically jump off the page, that I decided it was meant to be and left it the way it was....
