I think it's supposed to be a bat. I couldn't pass up the big biting "kitty" in the middle.

Thanks for the image. I was thinking that it was another rabid chihuahua. Placed side by side, they do look the same.

Got a place in my heart for agitprop posters myself, those are quite cool Dave. It's funny to watch our enemies evolve over the years, especially the whole
Soviet thing which went south fast after Berlin fell, quite lovey-dovey before that. I guess we've always been at war with Oceana.
Love that "Jaws of the Jungle," btw. It's one you really need to see in person though, pictures do not do it justice. --Peter |

The JAWS OF THE JUNGLE is terrific.
We had a pressbook that as I recall ended up with a forum member. Dave's "political" posters are fascinating - it would be interesting to see a poster collection that sort of traced the political history of the world since the invention of cinema. THE CITY THAT STOPPED HITLER reminds me to recommend the 1993 German film, STALINGRAD, to those who may not have seen it. |

Sorry if I am stepping on your toes Peter but I was interested too, so I looked it up.
Here you go Jeff: Agitprop (Russian: агитпроп) is a portmanteau of agitation and propaganda.[1] The term originated in Bolshevist Russia (the future Soviet Union), where the term was a shortened form of отдел агитации и пропаганды (otdel agitatsii i propagandy), i.e., Department for Agitation and Propaganda, which was part of the Central and regional committees of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The department was later renamed Ideological Department.

i should have thought to look it up, too, chris..
put simply, it means: political propaganda promulgated chiefly in literature, drama, music, or art. thanks chris. jeff |

That's a silly definition if it is one. It would mean that the majority of the Hollywoodfilms made during WWII are to be considered agitprop. Any cultural
reference book will give a definition like the one CSM gave.

Back in the days when people gave a damn, London's weekly wtf are we going to do this week magazine, TIME OUT, had a whole section devoted to
AGITPROP - rallies, meetings, screenings of films, etc.
The term Department for Agitation and Propaganda still sounds pretty interesting. |

I have to agree Phil. While I highly doubt Canada has anything remotely similar (unless we are counting political party to political party media bashing) I was
considering updating my resume

Happy to get this, I already have the UK 1 sheet (which I guess is the one to have) but I like daybills and at least I can afford to get it framed.

Nice daybill Ari. One of the best examples of where they followed closely the UK international one sheet.
And there I was, being discrete about the JAWS OF THE JUNGLE pressbook, Sean! Phil |
