Thanks for sharing.
Some good titles, although a few choices are a bit redundant (why show JAWS plus three rip offs with similar artwork). Armin www.posteroid.com - for the finest in Japanese movie posters

Yes, some great images there...but certainly a lot of the titles would fit better under Sci-Fi and not Horror...
Although, I guess the horrific ineptness of some of the Sci-Fi movies themselves could allow them to qualify

And you have to admit the Great White poster has a great image even if it is a JAWS rip off...

Good point there Lars Erik. Can one even be more low brow than Ari?

Thanks for that link Lars,
At the bottom of the article is a further link to some of the 'Criterion' dvd box art used over the years. In some cases they have come up with designs far superior to the original theatrical posters; http://wellmedicated.com/inspiration/an-ode-to-criterion-box-art/ Paul. |

Anybody ever seen the crack in the ice art for Carpenter's THE THING as a poster? Or more interestingly, got one?
It was used as cover on an insert 4 page 11x14 inches approx. trade ad in Variety and it may have been used similarly in Screen International. Phil |

Someone told me that somewhere in the crack in the ice art, one can see the Thing. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.
Here's another mystery poster. Anyone hear of an alternate AND AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON one sheet (not the Polygram shadow version, or the guys on the moors regular one sheet) that was designed and used primarily for what was referred to at the time as "black neighborhoods". The Australian one sheet and daybill art were generated here, so it's not that art. British artist John Bolton did a one sheet concept which I saw (and it was great) but was never used and I believe resides in John Landis's collection. |
