Posts: 2443 Aug 14 06 2:42 PM	I thought that this Snakes hoopla was funny about four or five months ago. Everything since then has just made me want to see it less... I just get the feeling that the promotional efforts will end up being much more entertaining than the actual movie. The actual trailers and TV spots themselves (not good enough to be good and not bad enough to be good either) have done nothing to help change this perception... By the way, I've read reports that that Sam Jackson preventing the name change story (that started this whole hype-machine in the first place) was a made up PR plant. To which, I respond to those responsible: Well played, sir. Very well played...

Posts: 859 Aug 14 06 2:55 PM	This film will open huge and take a 70% drop or better on week 2. No film that I can remember has more word of mouth hype than this. At least Blair Witch worked the web and had some kind of angle (is this a true story or hollywood land). This is supposedly "the baddest MF in film" killing snakes on a plane. BFD... Trailers look horrible, cast looks horrible, premise is horrible, yet they will make money. Marketing at it's best I guess. I like a lot of what Jackson has done, but to be honest I am tiring of the rep that they lay on films like this. Dale

Expections are rather high on this (though I haven't a clue why) - not a problem, provided the cheques being written by the Hype Department can be cashed at the box office. But something tells me this is going to be yet another pisspoor one-track story being sold on CGI. Perhaps the bean-counters will be happy with it though. As for Jackson, he needs to get back into the groove and do some decent film work. Been resting on his Pulp laurels for far too long.
