Mr Fawlty, not Faulty, FAWLTY.

ELVIN JONES, MAX ROACH, ART BLAKEY in a drum battle.... one of the most momentous events I ever witnessed in the name of jazz... on the stage of the Hammersmith Odeon during one of the Newport Comes to London tours of the early 1970s.? That must of been something to see I was only a ankle snapper around those times - I got to see Blakey before he died at the Camden Jazz Festival he was still very capable and for me was part of the best recordings for 'A Night in Tunisia'. Max Roach I only saw from recorded clips - here's (youtube clip)?one of my favourites of him with Parker and Gillespie after about two minutes in?Roach does a bit of his thing he knows he's part of something special as does Gillespie when Parker starts to roll, Parker seems nonchalant even indifferent - his genius resides in the sound only - all cool cats for sure. BUT I do quibble with those who contend his voice is great. I have always found his voice somewhat dull, unchanging, and often without expression -- which makes it very perplexing when he was billed as the "white Ray Charles" early in his career, 'cause I find Ray Charles' voice FULL of expression and life. So, on this narrow bandwidth of opinion, I need someone other than Ari to agree with me so that I don't feel even more insane.
I am here and steadfastly beside you, Eric. I am willing to help hire a boat to take both Mr Winwood and Mr Clapton out someplace deep and push them in before the entire world dies of boredom.
I'm listening to the new Burial Hex 2xlp entitled 'Initiations'.

Every so often I get my Portishead CD's out and they usually get played a few hundred times - I really never tire of their sound - if I had a word for them it would be moorish and how nice of them to bring out a new album this year after nearly ten years.

God bless you Tint -- you always come through. I agree entirely with Clapton too: these are incredibly bland artists (at least the bulk of their careers). Musak for the classic rock crowd.
I have no idea who Burial Hex is, but I'm sure it's great if you like it.

Simple question. Can one do what one criticizes?
