I am just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the case of the UK Pulp Fiction 40X60's that Bruce is currently auctioning and Posteritati has had
for sale for ever.
I bought the original set of 4 (Uma, Bruce Willis, John Travolta & Harvey Keitel) at the time of release. They had the release date of October 21 in black
along the bottom and were full size. A very short time later (month or two) I was told by a credible source that they had been reprinted, only this time
without the date and a bit smaller, much like the very popular 40x60 Reservoir Dogs posters of Mr. Blond & Mr. White. The poorer printing quality of the
'reprints' were noticable when compared side by side to originals of either film.
Also, due to the star-making turn by Samuel Jackson, they created a mock-up poster to meet the new-found demand (clearly noticable by the use of irregular
fonts).
Here is the descrition that Bruce is using:
Important Added Info:
Note that there is a set of five English posters for this movie that measure close to 40" x 60", and each has "October 21" along the bottom. There is a different set of five English posters for this movie that measure close to 39" x 55", and those DON'T have the date at the bottom (those were likely used after the October 21st opening date). There is a set of four smaller English posters that measure 20" x 30" (there is no Samuel L. Jackson image in that set). The poster offered here is from the set of 40" x 60" posters with the date at the bottom.
So... this is the first that I've heard of some 'second' printing, although I have come across serval reprint/bootlegs of various sizes - always
in lesser quality and without the date, but usually with an additional white border. According to this there should be a Samuel Jackson with date on the
bottom. I am willing to bet that no such animal exsists. Thoughts?
By the way, there is also an even smaller set 13x 20 that contains (*surprise*) just the original four and no Sam.
Here are examples - first is the original Bruce Willis:
Here is the 'reprint' Travolta:
Here is the 'mock-up' Samuel Jackson:
