these are paintings I have in my collection. I shot them for a friend, and thought some of you would get a kick out of them
ROLF ARMSTRONG 1940 Calendar
these pieces are gigantic
they are not authentic coke paintings though. I suspect they were painted for use in a bar or club etc or maybe someone's home
each is of a vintage cole ad
the "6,000,000 served" is approx 12 feet wide from a famous 1925 ad
the "Coca-Cola Sprite" piece with Charlie McCarthy is about the same in height of a famous 1949 ad from a Haddon Sundbloom piece
the valentines piece is about 6 feet square and is of a 1961 ad
all three are signed by Roger Rogers, but I have never been able to find any data on that guy.
I've had them for about 25 years and bought them from a guy at a flea market when I had my gallery in Cincinnati during the time I lived there with my ex-wife
one time a I got a visit from 3 coke execs in my gallery. They had gotten a phone call from one of the local coke drivers who was a customer of mine for comic art and these 3 guys came up from Atlanta. They asked me all about the paintings and told me how much they'd like to get them for the Coke Museum they were just opening.... as long as I would donate them. Like coke wasn't making any money.
